Santa Fe, March 10-- Rocky Royer , who formerly ranked professionally in the world’s top 100 in singles, has signed on as a master teacher and coach at Harbour Tennis Tennis Center, Corey Matney, Director, announced today. “Rocky, along with Associate Director Warren Fulgenzi, also a former world-ranked player, provide Harbour Tennis members and the public with the best-credentialed teaching staff in Santa Fe and one of the best in New Mexico,” Matney said. “I was attracted not only by Harbour Tennis’s virtually perfect indoor and outdoor teaching conditions,” Royer said, “but also by the opportunity to work with a community of tennis players noted for its enthusiasm as much as for its competitive spirit and dedication to the game.” Royer was most recently Head Pro and Tennis Director at Sangre de Cristo Racquet Club, where he has spent the past 22 years teaching and developing players in Santa Fe. He was earlier Head Pro at Beverly Hills Country Club, in California, and Associate Pro at Houston Racquet Club, in Texas. His students have gone on to become avid recreational players, tournament players, and national and world-ranked players, Matney said. In his amateur and professional career, USPTA-Certified Royer won ATP tournaments in Brazil and Portugal, played number one at Rice University, in Houston, and ranked thirtieth in NCAA Division 1 Singles. Harbour Tennis Tennis Center, located on the campus of the College of Santa Fe, operates independently as the largest, most modern tennis facility in Santa Fe. It is open to both members and the public, offers private and group lessons, provides clinics and other player-improvement programs, and serves as a practice site for high school tennis teams. Via First Serve, a charitable foundation, the center provides free instruction to grade-school children throughout Santa Fe.
Join Our USTA Year-Round League Teams Get a Headstart on the Season
Practices for all our USTA teams will run simultaneously. Anyone on adult league teams, senior teams, super senior teams and tri-level teams can participate. All players will now have the opportunity to practice with their teams year round. The goal is to sharpen teams for competition. Adult league players gain a four-month head start on next season. Along with team practices, we will add chalk talks and other off-court stategy sessions. In addition, we will offer match-play nights, apart from practice nights, to give players valuable competitive play throughout the year. Our objective is to make Harbour Tennis the place to play to build your game and become the best league player you can be.
